Atiya Jones

Atiya Jones is a multidisciplinary visual & conceptual artist, exploring themes of human connection, gentrification, migration, isolation and mysticism, while visually depicting accumulative actions / community presence through her WildLines & Brain Maps. She utilizes her artwork to create and hold discourse centering the Black-experience she’s had as an artist, woman, queer person, transplant, and wanderer. She believes that art is and should be everywhere.

In Pittsburgh her public installations can be found along Penn Ave at Crown Barbershop, Moss Architects and Fieldwork Gallery; Bloomfield’s Trace Brewery and White Whale Bookstore; in Lawrenceville at Tryp Hotel and in Wilkinsburg at Knotzland. Her work is held in the permanent collections of The Carnegie Museum of Art and The Benter Foundation. She hails from Brooklyn, NY and has been a Pittsburgh resident and artistic community contributor since 2016. She considers herself to be deeply invested in creating visibility and representation within the arts sector. Having completed four residencies in Rochester, Grand Rapids and Pittsburgh, she considers the focused time in remote locations to be integral to her continued professional development.
