You Go Girl

Hugo Gyrl aka You Go Girl is a graffiti artist originally from Brooklyn, NY currently based out of New Orleans, LA. Best known for playful Day-Glo creatures and limbs, twitching with weird life, appear like enticing fragments from a fabulously fun other-dimensional party.  You Go Girl has roots in graffiti, printmaking and mural painting. They work with themes of the occult, empowerment and queer visibility.

“Graffiti is illegal and there are no rules, but people have a lot of self-imposed ones. They get hung up on nostalgia and tradition. The people who make changes in anything are the ones who change the rules. but I do think you have to know where it comes from — it’s a cliche, but you need to know the rules to know how to break them.”
