Jermaine Clark

Jermaine Clark is a contemporary artist whose practice expresses unity by a intersection of gestural marks and text. By channeling the energy of the moment, his aim is to reimagine the execution of abstract expressionist painting from a unique perspective. Born and raised in St. Louis, Mo, his inner city upbringing is what motivated him to paint as a creative outlet. Faced with adversities common to the African American experience, art gave Jermaine a safe space to express what was going on in the world around him. While growing up, he gravitated towards hip hop culture, especially rap music where a freedom of expression and passion is what motivated him topursue a career in visual arts. The inspiration behind his work can be linked to a connection with lyrics, quotes and phrases that reflect on the constant transitions of life while on the pursuit of happiness.

Jermaine received formal training at Alabama A&M University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in 2010. He currently resides in Atlanta, Ga where he works as a studio artist and muralist. While being represented by Cateye Creative agency and Freemarket gallery, his past clientele include Atlanta Public Schools, the historic Martin Luther King Center, and American family Insurance.

George F Baker III

George F. Baker III

George F. Baker III, also known as GFB3, is a Nebraska-born, Detroit Grown, and Atlanta-Raised Creator. Using his instruments of design, illustration, and production, he employs a playful childlike spirit to engage the inner-child we all have. Currently, he is the Creative Director of Foster, a studio-collective striving to make people unafraid to play.

EL Chisolm

E L Chisolm

Birmingham, AL native, and Atlanta, GA-based visual artist E L Chisolm uses portraiture with mixed media elements to illustrate the beauty that blooms from adversity at varying life stages, emphasizing Black communities’ struggles and desires. Throughout her work, Chisolm explores the overlapping facets of identity by deconstructing notions of beauty and its relationship to the natural world. Chisolm’s thoughtful approach to painting involves a meditative offering that she seeks to connect future generations to understand themselves and their environment better. The artist’s experiences growing up in the Deep American South, navigating poverty and racism in visceral and memorable ways, have shaped her understanding of memory and how identity markers can preserve, heal, and empower.

Chisolm began her artistic exploration by asking, ‘Who do we celebrate, how, and why?’ She’s transformed these inquiries into portraiture, focusing on individuals she has encountered on her journey of becoming, highlighting those who have been historically marginalized and overlooked. The artist’s ability to illuminate the personalities of her subjects reflects her studies of her primary influences, Thornton Dial and Kerry James Marshall. Dial and Marshall’s respective methods of capturing individuals with colorful depth and the complexities of repurposed, textured materials inform how Chisolm approaches her paintings, several of which feature different flowers surrounding the subject. The blooming lilies in “Restoration” (2023) and the orchids that vertically demarcate the surface in “Refinement” (2023) are examples of this motif. The artist’s methods have developed as she navigates the symbolic meanings of each flower used in her smaller works and murals alike, reflecting a personal connection she shares with her subjects of desiring to transition into a better, more easeful life.

The artist is explorative in her materials of choice, selecting acrylic paint, decorative paper, tissue paper, and other textural elements. However, Chisolm creates most of her mixed media works on wood because of her reverence for its ability to hold up the heaviness of history. She extends her investment in meaningful source material by using twine to depict the texture and versatility of Black hair and as a symbol of overcoming the adversity of slavery and bondage of the Deep South. “Power” (2023) is one instance of this, where the locked hair of two subjects—or one subject depicted twice, viewer’s choice—forms a halo indicating divinity and strength.

Her use of tissue paper is thoughtfully laid to represent the imperfections that exist in the beauty that is birthed from adversity and decorative paper to communicate regality, adornment & wealth. Chisolm hopes to debunk the myth of Blacks being a monolith and their destiny of struggle through the use of raw materials transformed into dynamic mixed media portraits. With her work, she strives to inspire and enhance the Black American experience by emphasizing beauty and power, reminding the viewers that everything they need is inside of them.

Drew Borders

Drew Borders is an African American Muralist, Illustrator, and 2D Animator. She currently resides in Atlanta, GA working as a Freelancer. Drew’s work is driven by a desire for representation amongst people of color. She received her formal training at the Savannah College of Art and Design where she graduated with a B.F.A. in Animation. Her work utilizes the combination of paint and spray paint.

Drew has worked with a variety of companies, public art organizations, and galleries throughout Atlanta, Charlotte, NC, Oklahoma, NYC, and Miami. She continues to use bright colors to bring a sense of vibrancy, excitement, and life to her portraits of Black and Brown women to combat stigmas and stereotypes such marginalized groups experience. The history of her people is incredibly important to Drew as she explores the joy, wonder, and magic of Black culture over time as it evolves instead of centering on the trauma and pain.

Charmaine Minniefield

Charmaine Minniefield draws from indigenous traditions as seen throughout Africa and the Diaspora and her personal connection to women who have played a major role in her life. Her work explores African and African American ritual from a feminist perspective by pulling the past to the present, conversing between spirit space and the physical. Her community-based initiative, The New Freedom Project seeks to preserve black narratives by creating public art in communities affected by gentrification and erasure. Her community murals can be seen at numerous locations in Atlanta and beyond. Her recent public work includes projection mapping and site-specific installation. With a degree in Fine Art from Agnes Scott College, Charmaine Minniefield has also served the Atlanta area as an arts administrator for nearly 20 years, holding positions with such arts organizations as the National Black Arts Festival, the High Museum of Art and the Fulton County Department of Art and Culture, producing projects around art and activism with such organizations as Alternate ROOTS, Points of Light and Flux Projects. She recenlty served as faculty for the Department of Art and Visual Cultural at Spelman College and currently serves as faculty for Freedom University, an underground university for undocumented students.

Charity Hamidullah

Charity Hamidullah is a multi-disciplinary artist who has been living and creating in Atlanta, Georgia since 2011. Her work began as a tattoo artist where she assisted in helping client’s honor their identity through body adornment. Her admiration for community soon transformed her canvas with hopes to inspires and uplift more individuals. Hamidullah utilizes color, figurative and environmental elements to illustrate stories of identity , empowerment and growth while uniting spaces with the love language of art.

Cameron Moore

Yo! My name’s Cameron Moore and I’m a Muralist/Character Designer born and raised in Atlanta, GA. My style of art is very character focused and can be found anywhere from fun creature designs in games, to large scale murals in the city. I find that the best art doesn’t imitate life, but uses life as a base, while being fueled by the energy of what could be. Taking abstract thoughts and making them tangible is my favorite part of making art, I believe its what makes me a really good designer. I fell in love with the muraling craft in 2017, doing my first wall at my old high school. Since then I’ve painted nearly 100 murals across different cities, states, and even countries.

C. Flux Sing

While hundreds of clubgoers danced to the infectious rhythms honoring the African music legend Fela Kuti, there was also a large crowd incredibly standing still gawking at the live artwork being created by Atlanta-based artist Craig “Flux” Singleton aka C. Flux Sing. Using marker and acrylic paint, Sing’s amalgam of pastels and primary colors bordered by bold black lines collectively tell the story of the Black struggle, unity, humor, beauty… Somehow he takes themes from opposite extremes and vibrantly fuses them together to create masterpieces that quickly are purchased to adorn walls throughout the U.S. Whether it’s a hipster or an executive of a major corporation, a growing legion of admires are happily supporting C. Flux Sing’s amazing work. An import from Laurelton, New York, Mr. Sing has made Atlanta his home for more than a decade. However, getting his just recognition as one of the city’s most revered artists took patience. Currently, Georgia’s capital is taking on a revolutionary stance by finally embracing art in all its facets; in particular, Sing’s penchant for using vibrant color schemes which captivatingly tell the true story of the Black experience. But while he shines as a fine artist who consistently sells his artwork during exhibits including the globetrotting Art, Beats + Lyrics, “24 Reasons to Live”, I’m A Beast, and other productions which strive on showcasing particularly urban art created by the avant-garde, Sing refuses to be pigeonholed. Major corporations including Boost Mobile, And 1, Scion, and New Balance regularly hire him and his effortless grasp for graphic design, print media, and branding.

So is there a way to describe Sing’s style?

“I could never define what my style is,” Sing says after deep thought. “It’s continuously changing due to my self-growth and inspiration. I get bored easily so I am always driven to do something new that pushes the boundaries. I am inspired by comic strips, comic books, graffiti, abstract, graphic design, urban decay, surrealism and people; these are things that change randomly so there is always something new to create.” Although Sing’s creativity can be fueled from numerous outside sources and appear impulsive, his goals are very solid and leave no room for debate. “I really want to travel and spread my fine arts across the world,” he unveils. “I want to do large conceptual installations that inspire change; especially murals. It would be great to do it by myself, but I am equally open to do it with a union of artists.” Laughing, he concludes, “The end result is I really want to inspire children. It may sound cliché, but they truly represent the future. No one can argue that.” So whether it’s heading a new branding project for a major corporation based in a skyscraper in Atlanta’s bustling Midtown business district, or adorning a side of a building in Nairobi with a vibrant mural promoting self-determination, C.Flux Sing will always have an audience who will appreciate art that comes from the heart.

Ashley Dopson

Ashley Danielle Dopson chooses to work in spaces that are in between. These places connect people from all different backgrounds, public spaces that have intimate moments. She prefers to create on bridges, in hallways, street corners, bus stops, community centers, schools, libraries and transit stations. It is in these place that she weaves her own wondrous tales from childhood memories, old wives tales, fairy tales, cultural and historical influences. It is in her world that she has perfectly curated a space between the whimsy of a childhood coloring book and the sophistication of her experience as an educated Black American woman in the 21st century America. Governed by a vibrant palette, her work considers the stories of black women in the south, a contemporary take on biblical principles, and philosophies of empathy in order to diffuse a spirit of curiosity, wonder and nostalgic comfort to empower all around her.
Traversing a space of multiple mediums, she adheres to her bright bold color palette, bold black outlines, and thick textures. She can be found working in oil, acrylic, aerosol and in graphite and charcoal. Ashley D fuses apparent contradictions by finding connections between the primitive and the sophisticated, black and white and color, reality and fantasy, spontaneous and the intentional. Her work has the soul of a child but the intuition of a trained fine artist, it is no wonder she gathers people from all walks of life. She credits her ability to tell stories and connect themes using symbolism to her former teacher Mr. Steve Prince, a renowned printmaker, and her texture and color palette to Varnette P. Honeywood and William H. Johnson. She seeks to not just take the spectator back in time to a more simple place but to experience the purity of a child’s heart and help us remember the things in life that used to make us smile.

ARRRTADDICT is a talented Puerto Rican artist born in Fort Lauderdale, FL and based in Atlanta, GA. She began her career in the fast fashion industry, designing graphic t-shirts for major retailers such as Zumiez, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, and Target. Known for her dynamic streetwear aesthetic, ARRRTADDICT quickly made a name for herself in the industry.
She discovered her whimsical style while designing urban skater art for Zumiez, transitioning her canvas from t-shirts to large walls in Atlanta, where she became a well-known muralist. Her art captures the vibrancy of Puerto Rican and African American culture through loose lines, bold typography, bright colors, and her signature leopard print.
ARRRTADDICT’s work radiates positivity, embracing culture, spirituality, and healing. Her art aims to evoke the change necessary for community unity and equality, making a significant impact through her unique and vibrant creations.
